It's a classic a great way to find your own private beach to set afloat on the lake or cool off. Madison Park Beach, Madrona Park Beach, Magnuson Park Beach, Matthews Beach, Mount Baker Park Beach, Pritchard Island Beach and The Seattle Parks and Recreation offer safe, lifeguarded beaches at nine sites around the city: ![]() Super safe swimming options are abundant in the city of Seattle. At Carkeek you can BBQ, go for a hike, let the kids play, and go for a swim all in the same spot! This park offers over 220 acres of lush forest, meadows, wetlands, creeks, and beaches. Explore the secrets of this northwest Seattle watershed, nine miles from downtown Seattle. At a low tide (-.4 tide and below) you can walk south and find an amazing stretch of sand to watch the small waves roll in and skimboard if you want some exercise.Īmazing views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains await you at Carkeek Park. Richmond Beach, located in Shoreline, is dog-friendly, offers plenty of parking, and a wonderful stretch of shoreline that can you can have all to yourself if you time it right. Not too far from Golden Gardens and always less crowded. You can also wander the loop and further down the waterline to find your own little piece of Lake Washington paradise. Seward Park offers a designated swimming area with a lifeguard on duty. The park also has a tennis court, playground, and grassy shade to get out of the sun. Venture to Leschi Park and hit Lake Washington via canoe, kayak, sailboat, or floatation device. This park also has a dock with a diving board, a secure area to watch the kiddos and lifeguards on duty in the summer beginning at 12pm. On the other side of I-90 from Madronna Beach is one of the smaller Mt Baker beach parks. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer at this spot and parking can be scarce on a beautiful summer day. The park includes a wooded hillside that slopes down to a grassy beach and swimming area with two floating docks. Madrona Park and Beach is a great place to get away and enjoy the waterfront on Lake Washington. Do be aware parking is not easy to find here on a sunny day, so get there early or take the bus! This is also a great spot to have a picnic, play frisbee, and even swim in Lake Washington. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, but there is an off-leash area for dogs in the upper northern portion of the park.ĭon't like sand? Madison Beach is the spot for you because the grass is the main thing you will find on this beach! Leave the blankets and beach towels at home for this sunbathing spot. Fishing from a pier is also another fun option and if you have a boat there is a convenient boat launch. On a warm day, you can sunbathe on the sandy beaches or BBQ on the beach. Located in Ballard, Golden Gardens provides a rugged coastline for walks and hikes that can lead you through forest trails. Golden Gardens is where Seattle goes to play. Parking deems somewhat difficult, so it is always a good idea to get there before 11 am on the weekends to find a spot. With a long boardwalk, beaches at low and high tide, as well as a stunning view of the Seattle cityscape, it's hard to beat.
